OYAOYA, the dried vegetable brand

A dried vegetable brand that turns out-of-spec vegetables from farms in northern Kyoto Prefecture into a new kind of treat from the field, through drying. Around 20 kinds are in the range, from onion and carrot to Kyoto vegetables. With no added glucose and no additives, low-temperature drying close to sun-drying concentrates the savour and nourishment already in the ingredient. It gives new value to vegetables with nowhere to go, and faces the questions of food waste and of keeping farming alive locally. Winner of a Topawards Asia and selected for the Japan Package Design Awards.

Office Yaoya, for workplaces

A benefits service for companies that keeps dried vegetables in the office and makes up easily for the vegetables working people are short of. Add a single-serving pack to a cup noodle or a soup, pour on hot water, and the dried vegetables rehydrate for an easy top-up. No fridge and no power needed, and they keep at room temperature for a long time, so there is next to nothing for HR or general affairs to manage. There is no set-up fee and you can start from small quantities, with the cost split flexibly, from wholly company-paid to staff-paid. By upcycling out-of-spec vegetables, it advances workplace wellness and the SDGs at once.

Nashi kara no Tegami, the dried pear brand

A dried fruit brand made by drying Twentieth Century pears from Kyotango slowly at low temperature. Japanese-grown dried pear is rare, and because the green pear is modest in sugar to begin with, drying concentrates its sweetness, giving a fine acidity and a moist texture. It is designed around the idea of savouring one slice at a time, as you would read a single letter arriving from the orchard: a nostalgic experience. It suits any number of everyday moments, with tea, in a fruit tea, or alongside a drink.

Food OEM no Madoguchi

A matching platform connecting companies that want to make their own food products with factories that can take on OEM work. You can compare manufacturers by category, by what they can handle and by technique, and filter on fine conditions such as small lots, private-brand development and bringing in your own ingredients. Basic information such as how OEM works and what it costs is included, so even a first food development project can be seen whole. Companies wanting to make a product use it entirely free, and can go smoothly from contacting a manufacturer directly through to prototypes and quotations.

It also sits well with brand messages built on the SDGs and sustainability, and we propose promotional items that stay in the memory.
