Travelling yakuzen vol. 1: Manila, the Philippines
The travelling yakuzen series. I travel here and there, so I want to write as the mood takes me about the places and the small yakuzen points that come with them.
Say the Philippines and most people picture Cebu, and true to that image, the Philippines is hot all year, averaging around 26 to 27 degrees. I was there right in high summer, when the top temperature can hit 36. The sweat pours off you.
Look into a supermarket in Manila and the summer vegetables we know in Japan are lined up right there.
Watermelon, melon, cucumber, eggplant, tomato and more.

Summer vegetables tend to be ingredients that cool excess heat.
When it is hot the body flushes with heat easily, so these are exactly the ingredients you need. That they grow well here, and that people here eat plenty of them, makes perfect sense. It struck me again.
It is hot regardless, so I intend to make the most of the summer vegetables. Until next time.
